One of the biggest buzz words as a student near's their junior and senior year is SCHOLARSHIPS. No matter what finances may be available, scholarships are a necessary step in everybody's transition to college. It is free money that one can use to finance their college education. To find and apply for them may take a little time and effort, but it's well worth the time investment.

Ohio State Aerie Scholarship: $2,500 scholarship available to a child of a current Eagles member; grades, test scores; deadline March 31, 2018; applications available in the academic office.
Robert Kumpe Memorial Scholarship: 5 scholarship available; must have played soccer in high school; grades, test scores, class rank; deadline Feb. 18, 2018; applications available in the academic office
Howard "Butch" Pangle Memorial Scholarship: a fund has recently been established for residents of Allen County interested in pursuing post-secondary education in the field of law enforcement; character, grades, need; applications available in the academic office
The Bonnie Eddy Educational Supply and Book Grant (for Education Majors): The NW Ohio region of Ohio school boards has several $500 scholarships available to help pay for college books for students majoring in teaching; top 50% of graduating class, leadership, professional competence, involvement, character. Scholarship applications available in the academic office or online at www.ohioschoolboards.org/northwest-region along right side under "Resources". Completed applications and all required materials to be emailed by you to the email address listed on the application by January 31, 2018.
2018 ACME Baseball Scholarship: student must have played at least one year ACME baseball, 2.5 or higher cum GPA, activities, academic honors; five $500 scholarships available; applications available in academic office.
Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award: one senior student from each county will be presented this prestigious, statewide honor; outstanding achievement, grades, test scores, activities, awards. Applications available in the academic office; completed applications due to Elida counselor by January 26, 2018.
William P. and Pauline J. Deisel Scholarship: $4,000 available to students in Allen County; application available at http://www.community-foundation.com/scholarships/william-p-and-pauline-j-deisel-scholarship?q=deisel; deadline is noon on Feb. 7, 2018. Applicant must plan to be a full-time student at an accredited college, university, technical, or community college, be a U.S. citizen, 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA, applicants who participate in faith-based community service given priority, financial need is not a requirement.
Midwest Electric Scholarships:
1) General Scholarship: parents must be Midwest Electric customers; six scholarships available ranging from $1,000-2,000; 3.5 GPA
2) Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship: parents must be Midwest Electric customers; one $2,000 scholarship available; 2.75 GPA; students judged on how well their activities reflect the following core values: accountability, integrity, innovation, commitment to community and their drive and dedication to achieving a college education despite personal obstacles/challenges they've faced. "Go Bucks" Scholarship: A scholarship available to an Allen County senior who will be attending Ohio State University (Columbus or Lima), recipient must be admitted to OSU, class rank top 10% preferably, recommendation required, school/community involvement; deadline January 19, 2018; application available in academic office
Vicki Mauk Memorial Scholarship: a $1,500 non-renewable scholarship to one senior female athlete; must have earned a varsity letter in at least two different sports during high school, must have participated in sports her senior year, minimum 2.5 GPA, and plan to attend a 4-year college/university; deadline is April 6, 2018; applications available in the academic office.
FFA Scholarship: $1,500 scholarship available from Monsanto; students need not be an FFA member to apply but have an interest in science, technology, business, communication, engineering, etc. Deadline to apply is February 1, 2018. American Legion High School Award Scholarship: must be a direct descendant of a Legion member in good standing or a deceased legion member in good standing, 3.5 GPA, 25 ACT, must start college in fall 2018, deadline April 15, 2018, information and application available at https://www.ohiolegion.com/programs/scholarships/
Charles River (Spencerville) Biomedical Research College Scholarship: $1,000 non-renewable; student must have an interest in research and pursue a degree in biological or chemical sciences; deadline March 1, 2018; applications available in the academic office. Prudential Spirit of Community Award: graduating seniors who are deep-rooted in volunteerism; up to $1,000 and travel opportunity; deadline November 8, 2017; spirit.prudential.com

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation: 3.5 GPA or higher, 26 or higher ACT, financial need; deadline is November 14,2017; www.jkcf.org

Bowling Green State University: If applying to BGSU, a current competition is being held for a full tuition scholarship. Students with a 3.8 cumulative HS GPA and 30+ on the ACT qualify. Apply at https://choose.bgsu.edu/honors/
Rhodes State College: For students who are applying/have applied to Rhodes State for fall of 2018, they have over 50 different scholarships available through one application. Go to www.rhodesstate.edu/scholarships to apply for those scholarships. Deadline is December 8, 2017.
