Chicken BBQ to Support Elida Band Boosters chicken

The Band Boosters will be selling Harlan’s Chicken BBQ dinners on Wednesday, July 18th in the High School Commons. Dinners will be available for dine-in or carry-out for just $9. The meals will be sold from 5:00-7:00 pm.Proceeds help support the band camp and trip. 

DARE Camp

The Annual DARE Camp is scheduled for next month, July 24-26th at the Allen County Fairgraounds. 8:30-3:00 pm. Fun for your kids in the 4th thru 7th grad. For only $25.00, you will receive a camp shirt, lunch and many activities such as bowling, swimming and roller-skating. Senior Receives $4,000 Scholarship from Kiwanis Club cap

Congratulations to Senior McKayla Gilbert who was awarded a $4,000 scholarship by the Kiwanis Club of Lima! McKayla will study music at Heidelberg University. The check was presented by Music Chair Crystal Miller during the Kiwanis Club of Lima’s annual music awards luncheon at the  Lima Masonic Center. 

 

 

Summer Lunch Program

Relay For Life relay

 The Annual Relay for Life is Sat.May 12  9am-9pm at the track stadium. The Student Activities Committee has lots of activities planned: Corn Hole, Flag Football, Walk-a-thon, bucket toss, food boothes and raffles, too! All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Students win Rotary Essay Contest

3.27.18 Congratulations to our 7th grade students Analei Jackson and Alivia Buetner who won the local Rotary Four-Way Test Essay Contest! Analei came in first place and Alivia in second place.They will attend the Rotary Club meeting on Monday, April 16th where Analei will read her essay. Her essay will also go on to the District Competition.

2.12.18 Swimmers Set New Records

The 200 Boys' Medley Relay broke a 17-year-old record at the Sectional Swim Meet at the Lima YMCA. The previous record was a 1:53.61, and the boys went 1:50.76. Those swimmers are BJ Carder, Nick Niebel, Jacob Michael, and Garrett Simmons. Gavin Peare broke his own 500 Freestyle record with a time of 5:47.26, and Nick Niebel broke his own 100 breaststroke record with a time of 1:09.69. The following students will advance to the District Swim Meet at BG on Feb. 16. 

1.16.18 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Three Elida Graduates will be recognized and inducted into the Elida Athletic Hall of Fame this Sat., Jan. 20th. 1962 graduate Mr. Del Shinn, 1976 graduate Mr. Jeff Brown and 1995 graduate Ms. Mianda Watts will be honored. Tickets are available until Wednesday for $20. High School Teacher Receives Recognition as District 1 Teacher of the Year

We are starting this school year with very special recognition for our high school Computer Science Teacher, Mr. Mark Suter. Mark has been named the District 1 Teacher of the Year by the Ohio State Board of Education. (District 1 encompasses 22 counties in Northwest Ohio.) He received a commendation from the State of Ohio. We also welcomed Representative Bob Cupp who attended our staff meeting today to personally congratulate Mark on this accomplishment. Mark is now one of just five teachers to be considered for Ohio's Teacher of the Year. We are proud to have Mark Suter on our staff, leading and teaching our students. He helps to make Elida Schools great...Educating for Tomorrow!

1.24.18 School Board Votes For Bond & Levy on May Ballot

 Our Elida School Board decided Tuesday evening to make improvements for our elementary staff & students: they approved a levy and bond issue for the May ballot for the construction of a new elementary building. This is an opportunity to use state funds to help with costs of construction, an opportunity to make modern upgrades and improvements to our aging elementary bldg. "Jolly Holiday with Mary" CANCELLED

Due to insufficient ticket sales, the "Jolly Holiday with Mary Party" is cancelled. Purchasers can receive a refund from the school office where they purchased the tickets. We apologize for any inconvenience.    

    

1.14.2018 Alumnus to Play in Collegiate Bowl

Elida graduate and Ohio University Linebacker Quentin Poling has been chosen to play in the 2018 Collegiate Bowl on January 20 in Rose Bowl Stadium.The Collegiate Bowl gives prospective players the best opportunity to showcase their talents to potential employers and fans. Nearly 200 scouts, player personnel staff, general managers and head coaches from all 32 NFL teams are expected be in attendance. More in this article from the Ohio University website. PUBLIC MEETING Elementary Building Project

The next Community Meeting about the proposed new Elementary Building will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 7:00 pm in the Elementary West Gym.

The Winter Informal, previously known as Sadies, will take place this Friday, Jan. 26 after the boys' basketball game (830-11pm) in the Commons. The dance is open to all Elida High School students. Tickets are $5.....

2.8.18 Wellness Committee Meeting

The Wellness Committee will be scheduling a meeting in early April. 1.15.2018 RE-SCHEDULED: Pass, Dribble & Shoot Contest

The Shawnee Optimist Club Pass, Dribble & Shoot Contest is re-scheduled for Sun., Jan. 28th at the Shawnee High School Gym at 1:30 pm.Doors Open at 12:45. Registration at 1:00 PM and 30 minutes of practice time. For boys & girls age 8-13. Shawnee Boys and Girls Basketball Teams will be assisting. Easy, FREE registration at the door! All participants receive a free t-shirt.

Senior Gavin Peare broke the 500 Freestyle record at Wednesday's meet against Bath and Lima Senior with a time of 5:49.53! CONGRATULATIONS, Gavin! 2.1.18 Reflector Yearbook

The 2018 edition of the Reflector Yearbook is on sale in Mrs. Glenn's room for $75.00 through the end of April. Checks should be made to Elida High School with "Reflector" in the memo. Down-payments of $25 will reserve a book, although all books must be paid in full by May 23rd.  Please bring orders in an envelope marked with the student's name and the name of their Bulldog teacher.
