Chicken BBQ to Support Elida Band Boosters

Elida student band members are selling tickets for a summer Harlan Chicken BBQ! The BBQ is Wednesday, July 19th from 4:30-7:00pm in the High School Commons. Mark your calendar now!  Tickets are just $8 and funds help support the band throughout the year. Eat in or carry-out. Youth Cheerleading Camp

Elida High School cheerleaders are hosting a cheerleading camp this summer. On July 22nd, from 9:00 am -1:00 pm in the High School Main Gym. Cost is $40. Anyone pre-school -6th grade. Participants receive a t-shirt, and get in free to the Elida Competition the following week on July 29th and perform the chant and dance they will learn. 

Return the attached FLYER and payment to the High School Office by July 8th. 

Diamond Dogs Paver Project

Would you like to help support Elida Baseball and be a part of the rich history of beautiful Ed Sandy Field? Are you looking for a great graduation gift?  Paver bricks are being sold that will be located behind the field. 4x8 or 8x8 bricks are available. These pavers are a great way to recognize a player, coach or fan, past and present, and would make a great graduation memorial gift! SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Summer Break is almost here! After a few weeks you may be looking for something to do and there are numerous options in the area for students to enjoy! From YMCA activities, Playground programs, The Elida Elementary Library program, Regal $1 Movies, Westgate Bowling, Metro Parks, Lima Library program, and more! Check out the attached "Summer Activity" listing to get some great ideas for great activities this summer. 

Legends Football Camp fca logo

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes are sponsoring the 3rd annual Legends of Northwest Ohio free youth football camp on July 8 at Elida's Kraft Stadium. It is open to kids 8-13 years of age and runs from 9a-12p. The camp is hosted by Elida grad and former NFL player Kyle Miller. Local high school coaches along with college and pro players run the camp. Lady Dawgs Basketball Camp

The 2017 Elida Lady Dawgs Basketball Camp will be held 
June 27th and 28th from 9am-1pm in The Fieldhouse.

High School Spring Band Concert

The Elida High School Symphonic, Concert and Jazz Bands will bring 2017 school year to an exciting close with their Spring Concert, this Sunday, May 14th at 3:00 in the High School Auditorium. Everyone will enjoy songs from marches to swing to movie music, truly something for everyone. Join us at 3:00 for the culmination of the school year in music! Admission is FREE!

The High School Spring Choir Concert and Awards is Monday, May 15th at 7:30 in the Auditorium. 

Substitute Teaching

Did you know that if you have a bachelors degree that you can qualify to be a substitute teacher?  Being a substitute teacher pays $95 per day.  For more information call the Central Office at 419-331-4155

Healthy Kids Week: Success!

During Healthy Kids Week, the children in the elementary were challenged to walk at least 4 miles during recess throughout the week. A total of 520 children walked at least 4 miles, with many children walking/running many more miles. A total of 2590 miles were completed during the week! The children really seemed to enjoy the challenge. A special thanks to the PTO for providing prizes for those children who walked at least 4 miles! 

Bulldog Basketball Camp

For any Elida Boys entering 3rd-7th grade, there will be a Basketball Camp on June 5th, 6th and 7th from 9:00-11:30 am in the Fieldhouse. 2017 Regional Runner Up coaching staff and returning high school players will be ready to put their expertise to work for you. Registration is June 5th at 8:30 am. Fee is $35. Use the attached form/waiver to apply. Enrollment will be limited. APPLICATION

FREE PHYSICALS

oio   Free physicals will be offered at OIO again this year for all student athletes going into grades 7-12.  The physicals will be May 1st and May 8th from 5:30-7:30 pm at OIO.  Please stop by the Middle School Office or Athletic Office to get your physical paperwork.  Any student needing transportation to OIO needs to sign up in the office on the bus transportation sheet by Friday, April 28th.  There will be one bus that runs each night at 4:50 pm.  You will need to be at the entrance to the athletic office of the high school by 4:45 to ride the bus.  Physicals are a requirement to start conditioning and practices, please get this completed now in order to be ready for your season.OIO needs parent volunteers both nights.  Any parent willing to volunteer so OIO will continue to offer these free physicals should contact Jolene Sarno in the Athletic Office at 419-331-2580

Drop-off and Pick-up Changes

Elida Middle School has been looking at how to reduce the congestion on Sunnydale Rd. and improve safety for students, staff, and community. A new traffic pattern plan has been developed to reduce some of the road congestion.

The Reflector 2017 Yearbook

 Don't Let the Memories Fade Away! The Reflector 2017 High School Yearbook is currently on sale for $75.00.  Students may reserve a book order with a $20.00 down-payment. Sales end April 15th and all sales are final.  Fill out the Yearbook Order Form also available on the high school website under Yearbook. 

 

Transportation to Regional Final Game

There will be bus transportation provided to high school students interested in attending the Boys Basketball Regional Final game against Wauseon at the University of Toledo on Saturday afternoon.  The bus will leave from the front of the Elida High School athletic entrance at 11:30 a.m. and return at approximately 5:30 p.m.   Students must ensure they have a ride available upon return. Cost will be $7 to reserve a game ticket.  A parental consent form must be turned in to the Athletic Office by Friday at 3:00 p.m. This form can also be faxed to 419-331-4484 or emailed to jsarno@elida.k12.oh.us. The bus will be chaperoned by school personnel, and school rules apply throughout the entire trip.

Tickets Sales for Regional Final Game

Congratulations to our Boy's Varsity Basketball Team on the Regional Semi-final WIN last night! TICKET SALES FOR THE FINAL: The Elida Athletic Department will be selling tickets for Saturday's game at the following times: On Friday, tickets will be sold in the Athletic Office until 4:00 pm. Tickets will also be sold in the Athletic Office Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Tickets may also be purchased Saturday morning from 9:00 until 10:00 am in the Athletic Office. All pre-sale tickets are $7.00. Tickets at the door will be $8.00. Elida will play at 2:00 pm on Saturday at the University of Toledo at John F. Savage Arena.

DISTRICT CHAMPIONS!

   Congratulations to the District Champions, the Elida Boys Basketball Team. On to Regional Semi-Final! Elida will play at The University of Toledo at Savage Arena this  Thursday, March 16th at 8:00 pm. Tickets are on sale now in the Athletic Office. They will be on sale Monday-Wednesday from 7:30 am-4:00 pm and on Wednesday night from 6-7:30 pm. On Thursday, tickets will be sold from 7:30 am-1:00 pm.  Thursday night will not be a split session.  All pre-sale tickets are $7 and all tickets at the door are $8.

DISTRICT SEMI-FINAL WIN!!!

team     Congratulations to the Elida Boys Basketball team on their victory 46-41 over O.G.! They will play in the District Finals this Saturday, March 11th at Ohio Northern University at 3:00 pm. 1st half of the game will be a BLACK -OUT the second half will be an ORANGE OUT! Tickets are available in the Athletic Office today until 4:00 pm and this evening from 6:00-7:30 pm. They will also be sold tomorrow, Friday, March 10th from 7:30 am-4:00 pm in the Athletic Office. Pre-sale tickets are $4 for students and $6 for adults. All tickets will be $6 at the door.

Parent's Meeting-Scheduling

There is a parent meeting about scheduling for next year’s classes on Monday, February 13 from 6-7 p.m. in the High School Commons. Please attend for general scheduling information. For Sophomores -Seniors students. Incoming freshman meeting will be from 7-8:00 pm. See you there! 

6th Grade Quiz Bowl Rocks

Congratulations to the 6th grade quiz bowl team on last nights wins against North, St. Charles, Liberty, Delphos Jefferson, and Allen East!  They finished the night with a 5-2 record. Great Job! #ElidaPride

Members of the Elida High School Band and Choir will compete this weekend, taking part in the Ohio Music Education Association District 3 Solo & Ensemble Contest on Saturday, FEBRUARY 11, held at Lima Senior High School.

Super Subs For Sale

The Elida Band has started their "Super Sub" project. Students will be selling a Regular sub and a turkey/ham sub. Subs are $4.00 each. To order, please contact ANY Elida Band member in grades 6 - 12 before Wednesday, January 25 OR contact the HS band office ( jstetler@elida.k12.oh.us ) All subs will be made fresh in the high school Band Room on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Subs can either be picked up on that Saturday between 9:30 am and 11:30 am or students can deliver them to you.

Semester Exams

Sadie Hawkins Dance

Student Council will be hosting a Sadie Hawkins Dance on Friday, February 17 from 8-11:30pm in the Commons. As the dance is taking place the same night as a home boys' basketball game, the dance is informal. Match with your date! Tickets will be on sale before school in the Activities office and during all lunch periods the week of the dance. TICKETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR. School Board Meeting

The Elida Board of Education Organizational board meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 10th @ 6:00 in the High School Community Room. The regular January Board meeting will be held on the same night beginning at 6:30 p.m

Apollo Board of Education

The Elida Local School District Board of Education must appoint a representative to the Apollo Board of Education every three years. If you are interested in filling this position, please forward a letter of interest highlighting your professional experiences and qualifications to Superintendent Joel Mengerink by Monday, Dec.19 at jmengerink@elida.k12.oh.us. The three year term begins in January 2017

Symbols of the Season Concert

The 5th and 6th grade choir will be performing a Christmas Concert on December 8th at 7:30 in the High School Auditorium. The Symbols of the Season are ringing bells, flutes and drums, snow flakes, holly berries, shepherds, and of course, a manger. The concert will last approximately 45 minutes and is open to the general public.

 

Cheerleading Camp

Want to learn some great cheerleading skills? Elida High School Cheerleaders are hosting a cheerleading camp for anyone age 4-11 years old. It will be held on Dec.10th from 9:00-12:00pm in the Elida Fieldhouse. Cost is just $25. Please fill out the Registration Form and return it to Jolene Sarno in the Athletic Office by Nov. 30th.

That's why we've adopted the voice and text alert system. These systems allow us to send you voice and/or text messages providing important information about school events or emergencies. You must re-register for Voice Alerts for this school year to keep your contact info. current. All previous data will be removed and replaced with the data provided. You DO NOT have to re-register for Bulldog Text Alerts. This data will remain from last year. Consolidated Continuous Improvement Plan- Public Meeting

The Elida Local School District receives funds through the Ohio Department of Education via the Consolidated Continuous Improvement Plan (CCIP). Monies received through IDEA-B are used to provide Special Education Services for students with identified disabilities. Title I funds are used to provide reading and early literacy interventions to qualified students. Title IIA funds are used for targeted professional development, which must align with the goals outlined in the CCIP.

Public input regarding the use of these funds for the upcoming school year is welcome. Public input can be given Wednesday morning, June 15th, from 8:00am-8:30am in the central office located at 4380 Sunnydale Ave., Elida , Ohio 45807.

Distinguished Alumni Nominations

Do you know an Elida graduate who should be recognized as this year's Distinguished Alumni? Information is available on the Nomination Form. Deadline to submit a name is December 15th. 

Elida Documentaries Re-Released

Proceeds will go to The Elida Educational Foundation Scholarship Fund and to Gomer Historical Society.1985 Elida Graduate and Emmy-Award winning video producer, John Ondo, of Ondo Media in Columbus, is re-releasing his Elida Documentaries, Reflections of Elida, and Emmy winning Echoes of Gomer. For the first time, on one disc he will also include the Emmy winning feature “The Story of Kraft Stadium.”

 

2015-16 Reflector Yearbook

The Reflector Staff apologizes for the delay in the arrival and distribution of the 2016 yearbook, although we assure you that the books will be coming soon and all orders will be filled.Just before finalizing publication last spring, we found a number of errors in the book that we felt needed to be corrected. 

Tutoring Available

Elida National Honor Society students will be offering tutoring to any high school student every Thursday after school in the Media Center. Stop by and get help with homework, preparing for quizzes and tests, or just help with organization of your school materials. Tutoring will be held from 2:45 to 4:15
