BUILDING SECURITY UPDATES

As we continually look to see how we can make our school district a safer place for students to learn, we wanted to update you on a new initiative that will be in full gear beginning October 15th.

SchoolGate Guardian is a new visitor management system that will be used in our three school buildings. The use of a visitor management system aligns with the “Best Practices” for school security, and SchoolGate Guardian is currently in use in more than 1,000 school districts throughout the country.

Schoolgate Guardian FAQ:  Click here

This new visitor management system will require visitors to have their driver’s license or state ID scanned. Once the visitor’s ID is checked against the National Sex Offender database and a district database, visitors will a receive a visitor’s badge in order to enter the building from the school lobby. The system only scans the visitor’s name, date of birth, and photo for comparison purposes. The system does not save any other information. If the background check raises any red flags about the visitor, a school administrator will take the necessary steps to ensure the appropriateness of each visit.
