Elida Local Schools Board of Education Meeting

August 4, 2020 in the High School Media Center at 5:00 p.m.

Will be Live-Streamed on Facebook All Public Participation Will Take Place in Person

* How to Publicly Participate - those individuals wishing to speak must arrive by 5 pm at the high school academic office, sign-in or register to participate and wait to be permitted into the building due to mass gathering limits. Each person will have 3 minutes to speak. Those addressing the Board should direct their comments to the presiding officer. Board members do not respond to questions during public participation. This portion of the meeting will is limited to 30 minutes unless extended by Board members. The meeting will be live-streamed on Facebook.

Fifth Grade Schedule Pick/Up Tours

Elida Middle School will be allowing 5th grade students to come into the building and pick up schedules on Friday, August 7th. (This is OPTIONAL.) Being new to the building, 5th grade students may walk through the building to get an idea of where their homerooms are and where their locker is.  To limit the number of students and socially distance in the building, times are scheduled based on last names. Students and one adult may enter the building and they must wear masks while in the building. The tour will be self guided and a map of the building will be available. 8:00-9:00am Last name A-C; 9:30-10:30 Last name D-J; 11:00-12:00 Last name K-M; 12:30-1:30 Last name N-S; 2:00-3:00 Last name T-Z. If students don't attend on Friday they will receive their course list (which includes homeroom teacher info.) when it is posted onto schoology later this week. Also, more information will be mailed  to families with details for signing into Schoology.

Elida High School will be offering freshmen and new students ONLY an opportunity to tour the building at the designated times listed below. In order to properly socially distance, we may need to stagger entrance into the building. ALL people entering the building will be required to enter the Academic entrance and wear a mask at ALL times. Wednesday, August 5: Freshmen Last Names A-B 8:00-9:30am; Freshmen Last Names C-H 10:00-11:30am; Freshmen Last Names J-L 12:00-1:30pm. Thursday, August 6: Freshmen Last Names M-R 8:00-9:30am; Freshmen Last Names S 10:00-11:30am; Freshmen T-Z & New Students to EHS 12:00-1:30pm. Call the high school with questions 419-331-4115

School Reopening FAQ -New Updated

7.31.2020 Please read the newest School Reopening FAQ which includes some new information, including the addition of several classes now available through Remote Learning. (page 4) 

Middle School Yearbooks

Finally, our 2019-20 Yearbooks have arrived.  If you pre-paid for a yearbook, you may pick up it up Monday, August 3 between 11-2 at the middle school.  Please enter the building using the main entrance.  If there is a car in front of you, please wait for them to leave before entering the building.  You must wear a mask to enter the building.   If the weather allows, we will set up outside.  There are no extra yearbooks and only pre-paid yearbooks are available.

Kindergarten Screening

Kindergarten Screenings will take place on Tuesday, August 11 & Wednesday, August 12 BY APPOINTMENT. Parents will be contacted to set-up. First day of school for Boys is Thurs., August 13. First day for girls is Friday, August 14th. All attend together beginning Mon., August 17.

Required Immunizations

In accordance with the Ohio Department of Health all incoming kindergarten, 7th & 12th grade students are required to have the following immunizations prior to the start of the year: Kindergarten: DTap, Polio, MMR, Hep B and Varicella (chickenpox) 7th grade: Tdap (Adacel or Boostrix) and Meningococcal (Menactra)  12th grade: Meningococcal (Menactra)  You can obtain these vaccines from the Allen County Health Department or your family doctor.

Free & Reduced Lunch Applications are being accepted and are quick and easy using the PaySchools Central new Online Application. Once you submit the application, you’ll find out immediately if your children qualify. Covid Reopening Guidelines

Allen County Superintendents along with Allen County Public Health have released the following guidelines for reopening schools in Allen County.  We know that many people, including students, families, and staff members, are anxious about what a return to school looks like.  These are just guidelines for us to follow as we work to finalize our plan for the coming school year.  Our goal is to implement the best plan possible for everyone, and to be as accommodating as we can for everyone.  Later this week we will release our district plan so that families can plan for what's ahead.  Thank you for your patience as we prepare for this.
