Board Member Attends Final Meeting

Mr. Pat Schymanski has been serving on the Elida School Board since 2014, but he's been involved in Elida Schools since long before then. He and his wife Debby started the 7th/8th grade quiz bowl program in the mid 1980s. Their four children graduated from Elida. In 1988 he coached the boys JV soccer team for 3 years, followed by 9 years as the Varsity Coach.

In 2007, Pat began working as a co-chair on the levy committee for the new high school along with fellow school board member Brenda Stocker. Pat would go on to coach soccer again, this time girls 7th/8th grade from 2011-2019.

In 2014 was appointed to the school board -eventually leading the Legislative Committee for which Pat said he was " truly passion about."  He worked hard to try to help bridge the gap with the legislators so they can do more to help school communities like Elida, to assure proper and adequate funding.

Pat has also been a member of the Elida Breakfast Club since 2013- helping the group raise funds for Elida student scholarships and he also served on the OSBA NW Region Executive Committee.

But his favorite activity was his weekly visits to the elementary kindergarten classes where he would read to the students, wearing his signature wacky hats!

Pat will be moving to the Cincinnati area, closer to family and grandchildren and therefore resigned from the board and held his final meeting on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. Thanks for all you've done for Elida, Mr. "Coach" Schymanski.
