A Family of Teachers
The love of teaching surely runs in the family, as both of Evalynne’s parents were educators. Her father, Charles Henry, began a children’s workshop at Robin Rogers School in Lima.
Her mother Mary Jane Smith was a former teacher in Elida Elementary, junior high and middle school, and her Great Niece, Abigail, is currently a 1st grade teacher in the elementary. That’s three generations of Smith family teachers at Elida! Her nephew Mark Smith is a bus driver at Elida, too!
Traveling the World
Evalynne is passionate about teaching and traveled in order to enlighten her students of the world- having visited all 50 states, South America, Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. She even taught students at two schools in Ibague, Colombia South America.
60 Years of Teaching
She says “My love of teaching is forever” which is quite evident as she continues today, in her 60th year teaching, currently assisting students teaching reading and writing at Lima St. Gerard School. She’s also a Sunday and Bible School teacher, RCIA and BCIC instructor (retired) at St. John’s Church in Delphos, and a retired volunteer at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
